Hello? Is there anybody out there?

Hello!!! I've been gone for ages. Lots of stuff in my life that kept me from just about everything but work and my family... everything is great though, and I am definitely at a crossroads. Trying to sell my house and figure out the next steps from here for me. It's both exciting and daunting! The good news is I have a fantastic job and a wonderful family, so I couldn't be in a better place.

Amidst all the craziness, I have actually done quite well with health and fitness. I've had ups and downs like anyone going through a stressful time in their life, but I'm happy to say I am on track and better than ever. I've just gotten back into running and I signed up for the Runners World Half Marathon in October. I actually plan to do the hat trick, which is a 5K, 10K, and half marathon all in one weekend! I have taken up yoga on a regular basis, and it has done wonders for me. So that's what I'm up to!

I decided it was time to kick it into high gear nutritionally though because it is time to make my goal of 140! I've made significant progress, and I only have 8 pounds to go. AMAZING! I brought back those before pictures... trip down memory lane. I can't wait to take the afters! I'm going to do my best to blog my way through to the end... it helps me be more accountable.

Hope you're having a happy and healthy week!

Yoga Month

I have about a month until I have to start training for my half marathon, so I decided to get in a little more yoga than usual. I got super lucky and actually found a good place nearby that was running a new student special. I got an unlimited month for $40! That is ABSURD!!! Unlimited yoga is usually well over $100 a month!

I took an all levels class the day I signed up... I loved it! It was so low key and the teacher was really encouraging and friendly. We did hip openers too, which is perfect for me. Given my injury during the marathon, this is something I need to work on! She said something sort of interesting about hips too... you can take it or leave it depending on what you believe. But anyway, she said that we carry a lot of stress in our hips, especially relationship stress. Hmm... So she said when we were doing our hip openers we should picture all of our relationship stress leaving bodies. Believe what you want... it felt great! I left there relaxed and content. AND I was sore for 2 days... whoa! I love it!

Tomorrow I'm going to get up early to run before work. Have a healthy happy night!

It's yoga week!

I decided that since I was experiencing some hip pain which then sort of turned into low back pain that I am making this week YOGA WEEK! I started on Sunday with a 45 minute yoga routine that was on Exercise TV On Demand. I did a shorter one yesterday morning that was a little too beginner for me. I did appreciate the extra explanations of postures, etc. I'm going to try out a new one tonight. My only gripe with the workouts is that I find they're trying to be a little too heavy on the cardio and not so heavy on the mental side of yoga. I'm actually looking for yoga... not some beast of a workout that makes me sweat and burn killer calories. No doubt I love those kind of workouts sometimes... well most of the time. But this week is all about taking things easy and stretching out.

Will keep you posted on how some of these other yoga workouts go... Exercise TV should be putting some new ones on there tomorrow!
